BD Asset Development is responsible for the development and construction of new assets and major modifications of existing assets within Vattenfall. Investment costs of individual projects range from € 10 mln to over € 1 bln. Currently, BD Asset Development has about 100 projects under development and construction. Key objectives of BD Asset Development are to deliver all projects on time, within budget and according to specifications, and to maximize value by making optimal risk vs. return decisions within the projects and the portfolio.
One of the objectives of the project risk management framework which is currently under development is to draw conclusions of past asset development project experiences, find common patterns and key success and risk factors, and to develop a scoring model that will be used for establishing a standard risk profile for current and future project.
The projects will be analysed and evaluated using a comprehensive set of risk dimensions, which will also serve as the key variables for the scoring model. These dimensions are:
The work will be very interesting for students that are still unsure what they want to do after completion of their studies as they will receive a general overview and unique insights into an extremely broad range of aspects of the world of large asset development projects in the energy sector. Students will have the exposure to and able to speak to and meet with project developers of a range of asset development projects.
There could be some limited travel to Sweden and or Germany, if mutually agreed and required.
